Commonwealth Games- Brand Ambassador and Brand Prizes


None other than our India or Bharat, The largest democracy in the world known for its diverse culture, traditions, languages, religions etc. will host the XIXth commonwealth games in October 2010. India- Hosting of commonwealth games will be a step forward towards concreting India’s image as one of the Future world power. The fruitful chance of hosting the second biggest games after Olympics have brought up cheers but also an option to develop state of the art and excellent infrastructure and other facilities in the national capital “DILLI” or New Delhi. “DILLI” which is considered only as Slum by the foreign delegates and tourists due to the lack of development even in the basic amenities like infrastructure, water, sanitation and public transport etc.
This is a win-win condition not only for the ruling party of India or New-Delhi but for the whole political corridor as the present scenario reflects the improving image not only of New-Delhi but whole India. Yes, security will remain the headache for India but history is the evidence on its own that such events have being organized in the past under full proof security with peace and no disruption.
Nevertheless, a dark side has emerged on the political front for the games. Our political parties never left anything without exploiting it for their own interest and this time its commonwealth games turn. The issue of appointing the Brand Ambassador for the XIX Commonwealth games has become the victim. Organizing committee is unable to appoint anyone as the brand ambassador because there is a lot of political interference. Organizing committee is unable to take any decision without the consent of the same ruling party at the center and New Delhi. Indian economy is developing, so the Indian citizens and the quality of living and everything is improving and developing socially and economically both, but our politicians are developing economically only. On the social front there always took a step backward. They still fought like Dogs & Cats on issues even if they are of national interest and this time the issue is of brand ambassador for the XIX Commonwealth games.
In my view, a bunch of personalities from different field’s known and popular world over for their excellence in their respective fields should be appointed as the brand ambassador for the games rather than a single personality. Because a single personality will be liked by only those who have interest in his/her field or may be his/her fan but many personalities from different field’s will be able to attract majority of people round the world to the XIX commonwealth games in India. A bunch of such personalities from different fields can be created very easily like an example in my views. From the sports- Sachin tendulkar, the trio of Mahesh bhupati, Leander paes and sania mirza, sania nahewal, vishwanath anand, the shooting stars like abhinav bindra, major rathore, the trio of boxers etc... From the Bollywood side Amitabh bacchan (the Superstar) and aishwarya bacchan (Indian beauty queen), Aamir Khan (the lagan fame and movies that make some sense in real life), anil kapoor and the other Slumdog Millionaire Stars like A.R.Rahman etc... From science field personalities like Dr. Venugopal, Dr. Tehran, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam etc... From political stardom, only women personalities should be selected to show off the Indian women power in the world. Indian President, Lok Sabha Speaker. New-Delhi’s CM, UPA’S Chair Person and the leader of opposition in lok Sabha, joint secretary in PMO, Indian foreign secretary etc, all are women and it make some sense.

Now we turn to a second issue from my personal choice and that is of Brand Prizes for the XIX Commonwealth Games. The organizing committee or the sponsors have planned whatever prizes should be given to the winners and the players but in my personal view, the prizes should have inclusion of some following items that displayed a bright Indian image of developing economy as well as unity in diversity.
1. All winners should be presented their respective prizes but along with TATA NANO, the small wonder car that has forced the world to think and to move with Indian automotive industry Brains. Winners should be gifted this small wonder car in the colors of their respective medals means Golden, Silver and Bronze. TATA NANO reflects the brightest image of Indian economy and technology.
2. All winners as well as all players should be presented with gift items and pieces directly from the Indian cottage art and craft industry. India has diverse art and craft techniques used by different civilizations, different regions, and different cultures from ancient times. XIX commonwealth Games will be a best chance to safeguard the diverse heritage of India as it will revive the Indian cottage art and craft industry. It will also flourish markets for these items in different part of the world in future because the foreign players will indirectly provide a platform to highlight Indian heritage when they will be back in their homelands.
3. All players should be presented with a very small “CHARKHA” because “CHARKHA” reflects “AHINSA”, the path of non-violence led by the father of the nation “MAHATMA GANDHI” against the British Monarch of Commonwealth Nations to get our country independent and attain “SWARAJ”. Moreover, this is the success of “CHARKHA” that we are going to host the XIX Commonwealth Games in October 2010.
